Banking anecdotes...

Sometimes I feel like a doctor in br, one after another cx will come into my cubicle as if like a 'consultation', sit down and enquire their banking needs. Then we will go through the products with them or educate them etc. Today, I especially, feel like a pychiatrist or a counsellor. An elderly educated successful retiree consulted me on some banking issues. Through the process, I was told both her son and she are undergoing psychological treatment due to family problems. The case is complicated. I shan't reveal more. Anyway she was telling me abt her son's faith in God, and though he's under tremendous pressure, he still chooses to rest in God. That keeps him going. Her mum was devastated but her son's faith keeps her going too. Me being me again of course will spend time with cx and empathize with her and remind her that God is good. In times of turmoil, we tend to deviate from God as though we are mightier than Him. Panicky causes us wanting to resolve it on our own. We just think 'WE HAVE TO DO SOMETHG to remedy the unpleasant situation fast!' However, what can we do? If we know or if that works, we would have already done it long ago, isn't it? Anyway, easier said than done, I know!

Another case was a minor with two kids came to enquire abt savings plan for her kids' education. It's like a child taking care of two babies. She's unwed, earning meagre sum, asking me how to save for her children. She doesn't have parents, no education, doesn't want kids to follow her footsteps. Wants to get own flat but couldn't etc and asks me for alternatives etc etc. -- What can I say??

There are still many cases. So I tend to feel sometimes like a counsellor, sometimes like a psychiatrist, sometimes like a GP haha. I guess I enjoy staying in br a great deal.

On the negative side, sometimes I feel like a 'punchbag' with ridiculous cx coming in to teach you how to run a bank, give you ideas for bank's layout and design etc. Maybe we can set up 20 Treasures cx queues and yet have another 20 customers complaining still. Maybe if one day the bank decided not to take IC as mean of identification, cx will finally realise how many Ah Kow, Ah Huat, Lucy, Mary are there in the world. Maybe if one day a cx comes into the bank and realises that he never has to wait for his turn, he may then realise that he is the only human being in the world. If one day, there is a product that is 6mth in tenor, gives you 20% guaranteed return, capital guaranteed and flexibility to withdraw any point in time without penalty, pls let me know, I want to be 2nd in the queue after this cx!
